Charges have already been brought against five suspects including playwright and director Lee Youn-taek and actor Jo Min-ki, who stepped down from his university teaching post.

Police on Wednesday held a nationwide video conference to discuss further actions on sexual abuse cases amid a tidal wave of tip-offs.

They decided to hold alleged sexual offenders in custody for questioning if charges are serious.
