S. Korean Films to Be Offered on VOD in United States

South Korean films and television dramas will be offered in the United States through video-on-demand (VOD) services as early as October.

Digital On Media, a digital broadcasting solution provider and contents aggregator, yesterday said it has signed a contract for exclusive cooperation with TVK24, a U.S. broadcasting company airing Korean programs for 24 hours, to provide Korean contents and establish a content delivery network (CDN).

The CDN is a system to deliver visual contents not through tapes but via exclusive transfer lines.

"Through establishing the CDN and contracting with TVK24, it will be possible for local contents to be delivered to subscribers of Comcast, a U.S. cable television business", the company said. TVK24 is a broadcasting company in which Comcast invests.
