Samji Animation seals a contract with a major US production company and a renowned writer

Samji Animation (CEO: Kim, Soo-Hoon), a 3D animation studio, held a signing ceremony on the co-planning of an animation with major US production company Man of Action at the 2006 Cultural Contents Investment Roadshow, held in Los Angeles, USA on Nov. 7. The deal also includes the participation of renowned writer Matt Danner.
The contract stipulates that Samji Animation will collaborate with Man of Action and Matt Danner to co-develop two action comic adventure animation series for TV, aimed for global distribution, which will begin production in 2007.
As Samji is the first Korean animation production company to work with major US partners in the early stage of 3D animation production, the deal is expected not only to strengthen the Korean animation industry's status in the world market but also to create a considerable impact in the US animation industry.
Man of Action is a leading planning company known for its series of blockbuster comic books such as X-Men, Superman, Batman, and Spiderman, and has recently produced Ben 10, which is currently the number one animation on the Cartoon Network in the USA. Matt Danner, on the other hand, is a star writer who has planned and produced many popular animations in the USA in collaboration with major companies such as Kids Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, and Disney.
"Man of Action and Matt Danner are on top of the list of US producers we would like to work with", said Kim, Soo-Hoon, CEO of Samji Animation. "With our partnership with them, we expect to produce works in animation, characters, and publishing that will be exceptional in magnitude and quality".
In addition, Samji Animation promoted its 3D animation for TV, My Giant Friend, at the Investment Roadshow to make inroads in foreign markets. Moreover, the company also recently formed a consortium on 3D animation for theaters with Cinema Service, a distribution company, and MVP Capital, an investment specialist, to further attract foreign investments.
As a star project by KOCCA in 2006, My Giant Friend is set in 2015 and shows the adventures of Rynus, a leader in a science club and his friend Boom who fights against the Space Center, an evil spirit bent on destroying the universe.
