Everything came to a resolution on the final episode.

Seon-woo (Park Seo-joon) and Sam Maek-jong (Park Hyung-sik) showed true bro-mance. They seemed to fight over the throne but Seon-woo knew Sam Maek-jong's ambitions as a king and gave up his right to the throne although it was rightfully his. Then he allied with Sam Maek-jong to make a better country.

As soon as Park Yeong-sil (Kim Chang-wan) claimed he would pick Seon-woo as the new king, Seon-woo appeared in the palace with the Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youths. Then they put their swords to Park Yeong-sil's neck. Those who tried to get rid of Sam Maek-jong were caught and Sam Maek-jong could finally claim his throne. As king and a hwarang, they were different people but they meant the same for their people.

Romance ended on a happy note. Sam Maek-jong gave up on Aro (Go Ara) and sent her away to Seon-woo after saving her. Sook-myeong (Seo Yea-ji) also gave up on Seon-woo. Seon-woo and Aro could be together at last. Seon-woo proposed to Aro.

Ji-so (Kim Ji-soo) told her son Sam Maek-jong and the man she loved Ahn Ji-gong (Choi Won-young) everything before she died. Sam Maek-jong cried in sorrow as he learned about his mother who gave up so many things for him. Ahn Ji-gong also told Ji-so how he felt about her. Soo-ho (CMinho) who only had the purest of heart for Ji-so, watched as Ji-so passed away.

Sam Maek-jong started his reign as king. Seon-woo and the Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth stood by him as his supporters. The sounds of horses finalized the drama.
