Wang So went ballistic when his tower crashed and Hae-soo tried to calm him down. She was surprised to find blood on him and Wang So said, "Yes, that's blood. The blood of those I killed today". He tried to push her away but she still worried about his wounds and said, "I hear this is the kind of place where one has to hold a sword from a young age and kill to survive. Still, wanting to live is not a crime".

Hae-soo ran errands for Wang So as the other maids were too scared of him. She stayed to watch him eat as she pitied him eating alone. He talked with her, although he sounded grumpy. On the way home, he saw her carrying something heavy and was about to help her but he thought better and withdrew his hands. When Hae-soo was beaten by Princess Yeon-hwa (Kang Han-na), he stepped forward to stop her. This made the princess even more angry but he added, "Stop it, this is mine".

Hae-soo was saved but she warned him not to call her 'his' again. Wang So asked why and she replied, "A person is not a thing or an animal". Wang So asked if he could call her his 'person' and Hae-soo said, "Let's not give each other nicknames".
