The fifth edition of the largest animation film festival in Switzerland will take place in Baden from September 6th to 11th 2005. During six days over 300 short and feature length films will be screened.

Fantoche was launched in 1995 to enrich Switzerland's cultural scene with a bi-annual international animation film festival. Ever since, the festival has been highly appreciated by professionals as well as by the public. The heart of the festival is the international competition where especially innovative films by young directors are screened.

Celebrating its 10-year-anniversary this fall, Fantoche will again, with curiosity and passion, track the global development of animation film. During Fantoche's 10-year-anniversary this fall, several hundred short and feature length films from different countries will be screened in various programmes.

For its international Competition, Fantoche selects films according to artistic and innovative criteria and is striving to promote young talents. The competition is sidelined by presentations of relevant work of the ongoing season (World Wide Hits and Focus Switzerland), a selection of feature length films as well as by school presentations, expositions, lectures, discussions and the children's programme.

The ways in which cultural identity is presented as well as the contribution of animation to the development of a globalised image and sign language are the main subjects.

When the cinema lights come on, Fantoche does not close its doors since Fantoche is not only a film festival but also a festival of conviviality and communication, of exchange and going in-depth. Fantoche is an event that aims at integrating the charming atmosphere of the health resort Baden into its concept.
