Last April, CJ E&M and the CJ Cultural Foundation opened the "O'PEN Center" to support new writers and their dreams. "O'PEN" will provide creators with an open creative space and opportunity. This project recruits, plans, develops, produces videos, and fosters these creators.

Ten of the scenarios that were chosen in a contest are going to be produced as short dramas. The debut of these rookie writers at tvN will begin in the last quarter of the year.

Two of these dramas have begun casting. Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan is starring in "Drama Stage - The Picnic Day" and Kang Mina from Gugudan is starring in "Drama Stage - The History of Walking Upright". "Drama Stage - The Picnic Day" is about a man who gets a job at a keepsake management company at looks anew at life and death. "Drama Stage - The History of Walking Upright" is about a teenager with superpowers and her crush.

KBS opened the doors to rookie writers and directors with short dramas and tvN hopes to do the same. KBS's contest winners and their drama specials showcase the unfolding of good stories. Another of their drama specials is coming this September while tvN plans to unveil theirs later this year.
