World's First DMB Film Festival to Open in Seoul July 1

The "Mobile & DMB Fest 2005", the world's first DMB film festival, will open in Seoul on July 1.
According to TU Media, a satellite DMB business agency, on June 30, the agency will host the festival jointly with the SeNef (Seoul Net Film Festival) from July 1 through September 8.
Despite the unprecedented nature of the event, some 200 films from Korea and abroad will participate in the festival's competition. A screening process selected 27 films from 10 countries, including Korea, Germany, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Ireland, Italy, and France, for the international competition division; 49 films for the out-of-competition division; and 76 films for the main competition division.
The winners of the competition divisions will be announced at the closing ceremony to be held at Dansungsa movie theater in Jongno, Seoul on September 8. The winner of the grand prize, the "SeNef Mobile Award (TU Award)", will receive US$1,000.
Four film experts were chosen as judges: film director Yong Yi, film critic Kwak Young-jin, curator Shin Bo-sul, and Lee Si-hyeok, managing director of TU Media.
An official from the organizing committee said, "The 'Mobile & DMB Fest 2005' is a film festival of young people demonstrating their creativity in utilizing the DMB technology with mobile handsets along with their challenging spirit to seek the highest aesthetics in this new media. During the festival, 'micro-movies' produced with camera-installed mobile phones and related auxiliary devices will be introduced to the country for the first time".
The "Mobile & DMB Fest 2005" will be broadcast for 20 minutes from 9:40 p.m. Monday through Friday on TU Media's "Channel Blue" (channel 7). The program is also available through "Fimm", a wireless Internet service provided by KTF.
Fifty major films, including 27 from the international competition division, will also be available to view on SeNef's Web site ( http://www.senef.net ).
