It is a line summarizing Netflix's original series "Glitch", which will be released on the 7th. "Glitch" is already considered 'unique' inside and outside the small screen thanks to its two female protagonists and its appearance (?) of aliens.

Yoon Shin-ae (52), CEO of Studio 329, who produced the drama, nodded, "It was never an easy challenge". Nevertheless, there is only one reason why she boldly entered the production. "I thought it would be fun". CEO Yoon's eyes twinkled as she said, "I've been doing nothing but challenge for the last 27 years, so why not?"

● I don't think about the success of a work

CEO Yoon Shin-ae, who we recently met at the Sports Dong-A office in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, confessed, "In fact, I'm very nervous. I'm an expert who has come out with big hits such as "Emperor of The Sea" and "Six Flying Dragons", but the nerve-wrecking first disclosure is inevitable".

"I started working on this as soon as I finished working with a new writer of Netflix's "Extracurricular" produced in 2020. I'm worried that it's a story that's not very dramatic in a two-top female drama that's rare in the small screen. But I'm confident. The subject matter is unique, but anyone who has thought about "Am I living well?" can relate to it".

Since establishing Studio 329 in 2016, Yoon Shin-ae has accepted drama as a 'continuous series of challenges encountered'. In "Extracurricular", she drew an unconventional story of prostitution for minors, and continued to release web dramas such as "Top Management" in collaboration with global platforms and production companies such as Google and Sony Pictures.

"I don't think about the possibility of success so I think that's how our own colors came to be. It is also thanks to the fact that I started again by breaking the framework I have been familiar with for more than 20 years and learning how to work in an OTT (online video service) environment. I try to change my sense of content every day by having a 'final discussion' with producers born in 1988 who work with me".

● K-Contents, begins now

Yoon Shin-ae has been actively collaborating with Netflix and Google since the mid-2010s when overseas OTT just began. She's developed her very own know-hows as she's been through it all starting back from studying a 70-page English contract to getting everything written in Korean now.

"When I saw American drama officials who I met by chance around 2016, they knew Korean dramas one after another, and I said, 'This is going to change the game'. As the epidemic passed, global change accelerated as we discussed contracts with production companies around the world over the phone. You have to study ahead if you want to follow the speed. I'm also already in touch with the animation studio, studying games, and preparing for a future where the boundaries of content gradually disappear".

She also stressed that the K-content boom triggered by the "Squid Game, is 'just the beginning'.

"In the end, I believe there will be a day when we can lead the production of overseas works from one to ten. I want to continue experimenting with IP expansion. There are cases where endless variations like Disney characters create a huge world. I should create a 'worldview' that spreads to the world through Korean dramas".
